Uruguay is called Latin American Switzerland.
This is both so and not so. A stable economy, a solid currency, a low level of corruption and a high level of civil liberties, clean streets and friendly people - yes. But there are no mountains :) but there is an ocean!

But we will not take the bread from Wikipedia and tell general information about the country. Let's focus only on the important points from the point of view of kite tourism.

Uruguay - we suck not like the rest of South America.

Forget the word "cheap". Gasoline is $ 1.8, a can of beer in the store is $ 2, a hostel is $ 100 per day. Of course, we know life hacks how not to buy a cast-iron bridge every day and will help you spend less, but it won't be "cheap".

There are still various jokes that are difficult to understand for a permanent resident foreigner, but for a tourist, the troubles end at prices.

Everything else is great!
Climate, beaches, nature, food (oh yes!), wine and leisure!
By the way, the prices for wine and spirits are quite adequate.

The air temperature in the season (December-March) is 27-30C, the water in the ocean is 20-25C. We ride in lycra or a short hydro.
In the evenings, the air temperature drops to 20C and a hoodie will not hurt.

There are good roads in Uruguay, which allows you to get to the spots without traffic jams.
There are very beautiful people in Uruguay, both women and men. 90% of the population are descendants of Italians and Spaniards, who mixed very effectively.

Due to the latitude and climate, there are no typical tropical diseases here, and also unpleasant creatures are not very common 🐍 🕷️

Punta del este is rightfully one of the best resorts in Latin America.
The crime rate is the lowest here. But elementary caution should still be observed. However, as everywhere else.
